Special times call for special measures!
Initially, this series of ties was commissioned by Hamburgs most established classic menswear store “Ladage & Oelke”. Founded in 1845, L&O has survived two world wars, the 1920s financial crisis as well as a devastating fire in 1989 while becomming a hanseatic institution for classic style and finest tailoring. After almost 175 years in business, it is one of the few remanining family owned and operated stores in Hamburgs city centre.
This very tie was bound to go on sale as a store-only special to commemorate the first collaboration between Ladage & Oelke and Vecchio Anseatico. However, due to the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic the store was closed on 17 March and remains out of order as per instructions of the government.
For that reason, we have decided to list it right here right now:
The fabric is sourced directly from Ladage & Oelke’s cloth archive. It’s a tightly woven deadstock wool that dates back at least 20 years. The cloth features a classic black watch pattern and an amazing drape. This run of ties is limited to 10 pieces, all measuring 8.5 x 150 cm.
Small local businesses need your support more than ever these days. All proceedings from this tie go to Ladage & Oelke. #supportyourlocal
Our ties are entirely hand made from the cutting of the fabric to the sewing of the bar tacks in a small workshop in Como, Italy. This family business is around since more than half a century and has already been working for a number of well-known brands.
Each tie is constructed as a 3-fold with hand-rolled hems and a pure wool interlining.
